About Paula

Paula’s career in nursing spans almost 30 years.

Before founding Care Advice 2U, Paula worked as a McGrath breast care nurse for 3 years covering all of Tasmania and also most recently as a clinical nursing facilitator for UTAS.

Prior to this she has worked in both public and private hospitals in Australia and overseas, specialising in cancer care and support but also spending time working in community nursing services and nursing education.

Paula completed her Bachelor of Nursing Degree at QUT in Queensland in 1994 and has undertaken postgraduate specialisation in oncology and palliative care. She achieved her Graduate Certificate in Palliative Care from University of Melbourne in 2019. In her work overseas Paula was a ward sister in St Bartholomew's Hospital, a prestigious cancer centre in central London and then went on to be a clinical nurse specialist there, setting up an outpatient bone marrow transplant service. Paula was also the original Nurse Unit Manager responsible for establishing the nursing team in the new Allan Walker Cancer Centre in Darwin in 2010 and had the privilege of showcasing this work to the Prime Minister at the time.

Paula is a member of the Cancer Nurses Society of Australia and Palliative Care Tasmania and was driven to set up Care Advice 2U by seeing people every day who needed more access to support services at home.

Where does Care Advice 2 U cover/visit?

I am based in Southern Tasmania and currently cover those within a 50km radius of Hobart. I am more than happy to come to regional and remote areas however this would incur an additional fee for travel. I am also available to provide support via online meetings if requested but would prefer a face to face visit to ensure thorough assessment. I am happy to be contacted by those outside of Hobart to discuss.
